Many Greetings from Honolulu, Hawaii. We started planning for our 2009 Europe trip early this year. We were looking for a central Hotel in Munich, which would offer a great value. After a lot of searching and sending e-mails we found The Hotel Monaco While we did not even get replies from several of the hotels in Munich that we contacted, we were pleasantly surprised that the staff of the Monco Hotel replied immediately. The web site ws very informative and we got a good idea of what the hotel would be.The online reservation worked great and we got the confirmation right away. We also appreciated the many suggestioons the staff of the Hotel Monaco gave us when we contacted them before we arrived. On the day of our arrival it was raining “cats and dogs”, but coming to the warm welcome at the reception desk made us feel better immediately. The room we were given was coyz, nice and clean, and we immediately had the feeling that our stay would be very pleasant and comfortable. We suggest that you park the car before the check -in, since there is not parking or stopping n the street. Overall, the Hotel Monaco is a great value and we recommend it if you are looking for a fair price and a central location.

Thursday, June 25th, 2009Hotel Monaco breakfast – eight different kinds of jams
Thursday, June 25th, 2009This very centrally located hotel was just what we were looking for. Hotel Monaco is conveniently located only a five minute walk from the main train station making arrival and travel very easy. The staff here is absolutely delightful and very welcoming. Their English is also very good and they were very friendly towards our American family . They had good suggestions for where to go in Munich and areas that were less touristy.
The breakfast was fabulous and had many options to choose from. The selection of fresh jams is astonishing! Flavors range from raspberry and peach to a fig-kiwi blend. Theres also some great coffee to wake you up, and milk and jucies available as well. Along with the breads and jams, theres also a fantastic fruit salad and selection of dry cereals.
Our family of four stayed in a double size room with a couch that made a bed for two. The price was just right. We would definitely stay there again!
Holiday in Munich with the whole family
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009My family and I have been travelling together, starting our trip in Munich. We have been to the castles and toured the city. We found the City of Fussen to be esspecially inviting. After touring the castles we wandered through town, had dinner and found a wonderful place to enjoy desert. I would like to spend more time in Fussen. We plan on visiting Dacheau today and renting bikes to ride through the city until we get lost and then find our way back. I also hope to see the carriage collection at the palace. We have enjoyed the city very much and wish we could stay longer. We are off to Florence tonight after celebrating my wifes birthday today. We have loved staying at the Hotel Monaco in Munich, The staff have been very accomodating, the hotel rooms comfortable and the breakfast spread wonderful. We thought we were going to have to move hotels, but they were able to accomodate us. We definately would stay again.

Stay in Munich
Wednesday, June 17th, 200917-6-09 We loved the Hotel Monaco in Munich. We found the hotel based on high ratings in Trip Advisor and reccommendations from Rick Steves. A great advantage is that it is just a block away from the main train station in Munich, which makes it very easy to take day trips out of the area using the Hotel Monaco as a base. We were greeted with a smile which made us feel right at home. Our room, as well as the dining room is very light and has a cheerful decor. The breakfast was wonderful and had several choices from the marmaldes, variety of cheeses, breads, fruits, and more. My wife and daughter found the hard boiled eggs wrapped in rabbit puppets, with happy faces painted on them, one of their favorites. The coffee is nice and strong to wake you up in the morning. The beds are very comfortable and the Hotel Monaco is family-oriented. The bed comforters were very soft. The hotel rooms have windows which alllowed us to have a nice breeze in the evening. The staff happily accommodated our requests. We would not hesitate to stay here again.. Thanks for everything!
Do you love Ireland?
Saturday, June 6th, 2009Everyone who has been to Ireland or grew up there knows how special that country is. Irish music, dancing, …captures your heart right away. I’ve been there 5 years ago but the positive feeling I’m connecting with this country has never stopped. For those who are a bit homesick (me as well), but can’t leave Munich at the moment, there is a great alternative. The Green Farm Festival at the outskirts of Munich gives you a great idea of the Irish way of life. For 5€ a day or 10€ for the whole weekend (19-21.6.) you can watch the Tir na nOg Dance Academy or the Emerald dancers, take part in the election of the “Rose of Tralee” (but you need to have Irish roots for that) or listen to Sarah McQuaid and many others. Taking part in dancing lessons under the blue sky on dry summer grass is just great fun. The only negative point is the peripheral location. You have to take the S-Bahn to Halbergmoos, which is close to the airport, and from there a Shuttlebus leaves all 20 Minutes for the festival area. But the long trip is worth it. You can also camp there the whole weekend, what I’m planning to do for next year. I hope I will have time then. *thumps up*
See you on the 19th.
A good alternative is to sleep in the Hotel Monaco, just close the main trainstation in the center of Munich

I really enjoyed and love the yummy breakfast here, additionally, because the place is not big enough, later an American couple joined my table, we chat a lot and feel very nice to meet , know and learn from each other. Quite good experieces.
It’s my last day to stay here, nevertheless no any complain from the hotel, I’ll definitely come back again!
Walking tour in Munich
Friday, June 5th, 2009Today was our third day in Munich and our last night at the Munich Hotel Monaco. Staying at the Hotel Monaco was a great decision on our part. It is a great hotel and it is within walking distance of everything! On our first day here we took a walking tour. I highly recommend this because you see so much and you learn the history of everything. In Marienplatz they offer free tours and tours for 10 euros. We took the 10 euro tour because the groups were much smaller. The tour guide was great and we learned so much about Munich.
On our second day here we drove to Lugwig’s castles in Southern Germany. I highly recommend this. The drive is beautiful and so are the castles. We also drove to the Zugspitze which is the highpeak peak in Germany. It is located in a quaint little town in southern Germany that is also worth seeing. On our final day in Munich we went to Dachau Concentration camp and the site of the 1972 Olypics. Bother of these are must-see sites for Munich.
One of the things that made this trip to Munich so wonderful, though, was staying at the Hotel Monaco. The location is great and the staff is superb!
Munich and the Hofbraeuhaus
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009My last day in Munchen.
Tody, I will do my last tour in Munchen. The temperature is good in June and the sun is in the rendez-vous. I will come back to a nice place called Hofbraouhaus (not far from the city hall), a typical bavarian brasserie for drinking good beers. I advice you to order 1/2 liter instead of one litre. If you feel strong to drink one litre, it is better to order two glasses of half litres instead of one in order to drink the second one in good temperture. I really enjoyed Hofbraaouhaus because you can also order good food with reasonnable price: the brasserie is a little bit noisy, but it seems that this is the way of drinking beers here.
In terms of hotel with reasonable prices and good services and breakfasts, I advice you hotel Monaco near the central station. The room is clean and the reception is kind, You should share the toilets and bathroom. But they have also rooms with private shower and toilette inside the rooms.
In Munchen, some men still wear traditional bavarian clothes: bermudas, hat with feathers, leather pants etc. Some old men hair their moustche in a special funny way. The first day, I thought that this was an advertisement for stupid tourists like me. But after a while, I understood that these men are not actors, but real men living in Munchen since generations. They are proud men.
Many italin restaurants and ice cream shops are located in Munchen. While it is good to take italian ice cream (because german ones are not as good), I advice you to go to bavarian brasseries for eating. You would be a real stupid tourist like me if you visit Munchen and you go to eat a pizza or attend hard rock cafe: go to drink a good beer and eat german food.
Walking inside the city is pleasant: old buildings and modern building a set up with harmony. The architecture of old buildings is somehow like in Netherland. In some old building, I felt that dragons may go out purshased with wishes and knights.
German people are really disciplined (trust me, it is like what you think), I enjoyed their discipline. However, during night, numerous cafe broadcats football and german men drink beer in front of the game. Football seems important in gemany.
From Munchen, the city.
