Arriving in Munich was a little scary. I was confident in myself and made no excuses for doing things alone my first day. The staff at Hotel Monaco have been more than willing to answer questions, give directions, provide suggestions and overall have been a delight to stay with. I set out the first day to the Marienplatz. I introduced myself to German coffee. Soon afterwards, my sister arrived and now I had a partner to help explore Munich. The next day we took a bike tour, which really helped “organize” the city for us. We then went to the Residenz. Then we went to the Hobrauhaus for dinner and show. Even though we didn’t pay for one, we got it. Next, was a trip to Dachau-this is really a humbling experience-everyone should do this. We ate at the Chinese Biergarten and hung out with newly made friends. Our next venture was to King Ludwig’s castles by way of car. My sister drove on the Autobahn and it was thrilling. On our way back we utilized the freedom our car gave us and bought fresh milk from a real dairy farmer. He spoke no English but our broken German was enough to get a litre of milk. Today was our last day and we made a trip to Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, Eagles Nest and missed the boat ride to St BArtholomew’s Cathedral by only 10 minutes. I can with no doubt say that this trip has been wonderful. We will never forget Munich! Thank you!
