Munich is very different to Frankfurt

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I am the first time here in munich….its wonderful visiting this bavarian city…nice people..nice climate….i have arrived from nurenberg by the ice train..as soon as i reached the train station i was assisted with directions by some officers at the train station … i reached the monaco hotel and it was a real surprise for me to see the grand big size rooms for the small money….he receptionist was so friendly with a warm welcome…the rooms are really so grandios.

The city of munich is lot more different than what i expected….different from the regular frankfurt types where i am on buinsess most of the times…i think frankfurt is for business whereas munich is for fun, enjoyment, seeing the lovely places around….and not to forget the beeeeeeeeer in munich…..the best thing is also to rent a bike…its fun to rent one and go across the town on your own seeing places flying like a bird where ever you want to……the best thing is the friendly, vibrant young people enjoying all along. Well got to rush ….write you more next time. Cheers. Ketannn

Beergardens in Munich

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Since munich is the city built on beer. I decided to take a few days to discover some of the beergardens in the area.
Near the Hofbräuhaus is Weisses Bräuhaus, claiming to serve the best Weissbier round.
This is an unfiltered wheat beer, very refreshing on a hot day. It is popular whith tourists and has a food menu in english. There is also a good selection of beers. Some of them stronger, than what we are used, to so be warned. They have a nice veggie platte here for nine fifty euros.
The Spatenhaus is located near the opers and you can sit in the sidewalk cafe while enjoying your meal or eat inside.
The price is a little higher, but the quality is good. I like the pork cutlet served in a pan with veggies.
The name Spaten means spade and is trademark of the brewery.
I finally ended up in the large Augustiner Biergarten, located a few blocks from the hauptbahnhof.
This is the place to be on a fine evening and mostly visited by locals, The beer is said, to be the best.

Free hotel breakfast

Had a great couple of days seeing Munich. Drank plenty of beer and eaten lots of pork! Muncheners all seem really friendly, especially when we’ve been attempting to speak some german. ‘Also, mein deutche ist nicht zehr güt’. ‘Would recommend Munich to anyone as it’s beautiful and the people are friendly. Would recommend taking a bus tour if you have very little time as you get to see the sights quickly. Enjoyed the english garden, but thought the beer was over-priced. Went to the Hofbrau Haus which was cool, but touristy, enjoyed the outdoor market and the pschoor brau haus more.Driving down to Füssen tommorow then back to Hotel Monaco for our last night before going home to ‘magical Seaford’ on the english south coast, near Brighton. Gret idea to have a free breakfast for writing a blog too. Hotel Monaco is very nice,  the rooms are nice and bright and clean and the staff are lovely. Jay and Lucy England and Wales
