Biketour for sightseing Munich

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

This city really is quite a bit of fun when the weather is right – nearly the whole day today was filled with sunshine, until the weather produced a thunderstorm that made getting to dinner a bit wet and dark. I highly recommend renting a bike for the daytime on your trip and biking around to all of the sites you want to see in and around the city. In very little time
(<5 hours) my group was able to see much of the city – from the Nymphenburger castle to the Olympic Park and on to the English Gardens. Also, the Glockenschpiel is a site to see, but do not worry about trying to see it more than once – only the number of times the bells chime changes on the hours. The view from the tower at St. Peter’s in Marienplatz is beautiful; you get the full 360 degree view of the city in one stop. However, this is not for the faint of heart/stomach, as the viewing space at the top is quite high and the hike up the 14 floors worth of stairs can be a bit tight at times between sightseers going up and down.
