BMW-Museum

Close to the olympic centre the BMW-Museum can be found, which has been opened in 1972, just before the Summer Olympics. It deals with the history of the automobile manufacturer BMW. After the “German Museum” and the “Pinakothek der Moderne” it is the most visited museum in Munich. (250 000 people per year) The people of Munich also call the silver and futuristic building "salad bowl" – but with a wink. The exhibition “time horizon” shows engines, planes, motorbikes, and all kind of vehicles. You can also find very futuristic studies, developed during the last 20 years.
The new World of BMW has a futuristic steel-glass construction by COOP Himmelb(l)au. It is used as an event- and delivery centre. Visitors have the possibility to visit exhibitions like “Worlds of actuation, precession and light, beauty and connections” or they can have a look into the BMW shops and restaurants. There is also a world of kids and youth for families.
In 2007 opened also the new museum of BMW.
