English Garden
The English Garden in a huge park in the centre of Munich. It was established in 1789 by the elector Karl Theodor. The former deer hunting grounds were changed into a completely new style of park. It should be open and available for all people. Still the English Garden is attracting the people of Munich because of its huge recreational value. Everyone can find a positive side, there are beer gardens, little lakes, the “ice river”,…even dogs are allowed. The "English Garden" is Munich's largest (900-acre) and famous urban public park and offers a lot of attractions: Enjoy a great view from the "Monopteros" or a tour to the famous beer garden at the "Chinesischer Turm". Other great beer gardens are Seehaus, Hirschau, Aumeister. The English Garden stretches from the center of the city (near Odeonsplatz) to the northern city border.
