Glyptothek
This is one of the oldest museums in Munich. The building of the museum was built after the plans of Leo von Klenze and it has a neo-classical stile. The museum is situated at the Königsplatz and the visitors are able to get information about the history of the antiques pictorial art between 560 B.C. and 400 AD. The highlights of the exhibition are the gable sculptures of the Aphaiatemple of Aegina. Whose history is exhibit with the help of wooden models, presentation boards and light boxes. Also they present greek and roman portraits, for example the image of Alexander the Great. Back to Munich glossary
