Hotel Munich glossary: Ackermannbogen, the arche of Ackermann

Ackermannbogen (The arch of Ackermann) has been named after the Journalist Josef Ackermann (1896-1959). He has been arrested in the concrentation camps of Buchenwald, Dachau and Dora Mittelbau within the years 1933 to 1945.

After the collaps of the Third Reich in 1945 he became director of the municipal news service. 3 years later he founded the local Munich newspaper called "Stadtanzeiger" he even was publisher himself. Many years he even has been president of the association of professional journalists in bavaria.
