Hotel Munich glossary: Alfons-Goppel Straße

This street connects the Maximilianstreet to Hofgartenstreet. It has been names after Alfons Goppel who was one of the founders of the political party CSU. First Goppel used to be state secretary at the department of justice and in 1958 he became home secretary,
Within 1962 and 1978 he has been prime minister of bavaria.
Further on he was working for many other organisations such as the bavarian red cross. In 1965 he became honorary citizen of Munich.
Goppel died 1991 in Johannisberg nearby Aschaffenburg.
