Hotel Munich glossary: Bavaria Statue

The Bavaria Statue situated above the Theresienwiese, is a bronze-cast statue of a female figure representing Bavaria's "secular patron saint. The statue  in front of the hall of fame represents the State of Bavaria. Since the Bavaria is one of the biggest bronze sculptures in the world, it had to be built out of four big parts and several smaller ones. Inside the statue, a staircase of 66 stairs allows tourists to climb to the top and get a great view of Munich.
You will find the most impressive iron-cast statue of Bavaria's patron saint on the border of the Theresienwiese where the the world-famous Oktoberfest take place each year in September to the beginning of October. Ludwig Schwanthaler was the architect of this great sculpture.
