Hotel Munich glossary: Cuvillies Theater

Cuvillies Theater or known as „altes Residenztheater“ is a part of the Residenz palace complex. It was built from 1751 to 1755. It is hard to believe that  the gilt Rococo interior was dismantled and stored during World War II. bombing raids -  and that it survives in all its splendor.  Mozart's Idomineo received its world premier in  this theater in 1781. Tours of the theater can be arranged through the ticket office of the Residenz. It is a wonderful theatre and you shouldn’t miss it.
