Hotel Munich glossary: Oberammergau

Oberammergau is a small town in the south of Bavaria.
It is located in the valley of the Amper Valley which was created in the ice age times.
The city is known mostly fort he very famous „Passionsspiele“ which are organised and offered every 10 years since 1634.
This several hours lasting performance shows the last 5 days in the life of Jesus.
Around 500.000 people do visit and watch this unique performance which is offered by Oberammergaus inhabitants only.
But Oberammergau is even in the years without this great event a popular vacation and recreational area.
It can be reached from Munich easily with a 2 hours ride by car or train.
