Munich events, festivals, special concerts, or Munich sport events
The Octoberfestival in munich would certainly be at the very top of the german event list. The munich inhabitors call it "Wiesn". But the Octoberfest is only one among many uplifting events in munich.
Munich Oktoberfestival
Only two weeks after the Oktoberfest, the Kirchweihdult starts on Mariahilfsplatz in Munich/Au. It is a huge market on the square at the Mariahilfschurch, and pots and pans, dishes, earthenware, clothes, tea and other things are bought and sold. Three such markets known as Dult take place annually in Munich. All last for nine days.
In October, the Kirchweihdult, in spring the Maidult and in July, the Jacobidult. The origins are all in the Middle Ages. Originally, a "Tult" was a religious festival in which merchants would offer special goods not normally availble the whole year, such as silk, exotic spices and incense. Today, the Dults are an insider tip among locals. Not widely known to visitors, the atmosphere is rather slow and quiet (but not during the weekends). I love the Dult.
Another festival, which I love, is the Summer-Tollwood and the Winter-Tollwood and the mostly Christmas markets.

Christopher Street Day: Gay and Lesbian Parade on Marienplatz every year in July.

Opera Festival: The "Münchner Opernfestspiele" always take place throughout the month of July. Most of the performances are presented in the Nationaltheater.
Foundation anniversary (Stadtgründungsfest): On the first weekend in June, Munich celebrates its own anniversary on Marienplatz, in the very heart of town.
Munich is a very sporty town - and not just because it is the home of Germany´s most successful soccer club, FC Bayern Munich. Jogging through the English Garden, going for walks in Nymphenburger Park or cycling along the Isar - just a few of the various ways to keep one´s body trim and fit in the metropolis.
Very famous is the "Internationale Olympia City Marathon" in Munich. Is held every year in May. It runs along the same course as the Olympic Marathon of 1972, past many of the major sight in Munich. www.muenchen-marathon.de/
